Remote Education
Information for parents
This information is intended to provide clarity and transparency to pupils and parents or carers about what to expect from remote education where national or local restrictions require entire cohorts or groups of children to remain at home.
What is taught to pupils at home
Work for pupils will be available via the school’s website. We teach the same curriculum remotely as we do in school wherever possible and appropriate. However, we may need to make some adaptations in some subjects. For example, in science where specialist equipment is needed an alternative task will be set.
Study time
Children are expected to spend 3 to 4 hours a day studying. Tasks that are set by school will be age-appropriate and should be manageable.
Engagement and feedback
Completed work should be sent to school on a regular basis. This can be via e mail to the child’s teacher or a photograph of the work.
SEND
We recognise that some pupils, for example some pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), may not be able to access remote education without support from adults at home. We acknowledge the difficulties this may place on families, and we will work with parents and carers to support those pupils on an individual basis.
Communication
We will keep parents updated by text and e mail. Please ensure that your contact details are up to date.
Safeguarding
School will maintain contact with families to ensure the safety of all pupils. Welfare checks will take place on a regular basis.
